About the final project for: Travel Watercolor

Travel Watercolor Illustration

“We have reached the end of the course. Thank you very much for accompanying me on this adventure. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Now you are more than ready to assemble your travel kit and start painting the nature that you find. Before I say goodbye, I want to show you an example of how I'd like to see your course project: The landscape Choose the landscape of your last getaway or trip that you want to paint (it can only be a beautiful sky and a bit of mountains, a river, a lake, or a waterfall), this time I chose the landscape of my last trip to the mountains of my region.

The drawing on paper Make the brief pencil drawing on a small format paper or in a notebook, where you evaluate the approximate tonal values from the lightest or brightest areas, then the moderately bright ones, to the dark values. Then, make a sketch with watercolors, to test the colors and review the essential methods studied (these brief references can alternatively be taken when you are in the same natural place, which will support the final work, together with the photograph you take of your landscape ). At this stage, after preparing the paper on the support, and placing the board at the desired angle, you will make a summary drawing of the landscape, taking into account the references outlined in the sketchbook and the photograph taken on your trip.
Start painting Start by painting the sky, this time you will do it wet, giving the first brushstrokes to the shadows of the clouds, using a mix of medium/light value, leaving the whiter areas unpainted; later with a lower value, you will paint the sky blue, giving shape to the irregular outline of the clouds.
Then, when the sky has dried, you will go down and with medium/light tones you will paint the mountains and the green areas, as well as the reflection of the sky in the water, which you will also do on wet to blend colors.
Shadows When the work on wet dries, highlight the mountains and the shaded areas in them, leaving the some light areas unpainted to generate volume, do the same in the green areas, generating the textures of the grasses using the greatest amount of pigment possible.
The details Lastly, detail the stones and dark areas in the water, and when it has dried, remove the pigment with the synthetic brush, then dry with absorbent paper to generate details with more light that hint at the movement of the water.
Share your project by clicking "Create your project". In addition to the photographs of each stage of the process, share a short text in which you talk about your experience in carrying it out. I will give you feedback as soon as possible. However, I ask you to be patient, as it may take a while for me to reply to you. While you wait, I invite you to exchange ideas and advice with the rest of your classmates. See you soon!”

“We have reached the end of the course I will give you some recommendations for your final project. Choose the landscape of your last getaway or trip that you would like to paint. This time I chose the landscape from my last trip to the mountains of my region. Beam the brief pencil drawing on a small format paper or in a notebook, where you evaluate the approximate tonal values from the lightest or brightest areas, then the moderately bright ones, towards dark values.
