Have you ever seen a movie that made you laugh when you should have cried? Or the opposite? In this online course, screenwriter and author Daniel Monedero explains why those are his favorite kind and teaches you the secrets to writing a compelling screenplay.
According to Daniel, working on scripts for films like A mil kilómetros de la Navidad, released in over 50 countries on Netflix, has taught him how to build stories from the ground up, one piece at a time. Start with a few lines about a character and a conflict, develop a solid plot within an organized structure, and sprinkle in a few twists to bring your next movie project to life.

Daniel Monedero opens the course by telling you about his multifaceted career as a writer, from producing screenplays for film and television to authoring short stories and children's books. He also shares the people who have greatly influenced his work.
Begin with an introduction to what a screenplay is, the essential parts, and common terminology. Then broaden your knowledge of structure and character design by studying a few prime examples in film.
Apply what you've learned to structure the plot of your story following the three-act model: the setup, the confrontation, and the resolution. Daniel guides you through writing each part, putting emphasis on key aspects such as a trigger, a midpoint, and two major plot twists.
Now turn your focus to developing narrative elements like the point of view, time, and place. Once everything is outlined, write a clear and concise synopsis with visual aids.
To wrap things up, Daniel shares some tricks on how to add a personal touch to your project and get it off the ground, including strategies for writing a full screenplay and selling your movie idea.
What is this course's project?
Write a professional screenplay draft for your own movie that includes the idea, the genre, a detailed plot synopsis, character outlines, and its distinctive qualities for further development or future sale.

Who is this online course for?
Anyone interested in screenwriting, whether as a hobby or a professional pursuit, for future sale to producers or platforms.
Requirements and materials
All you need is a pencil and paper, or a computer, and an interest in learning how to write a story for audiovisual media.
