“ Research and Sketching In this lesson, we'll look into my process of research and sketching. Now that we know how to draw characters, it's time to get some real-life inspiration. I like to go out to the street to discover how city characters look. I try to find interesting personalities and outfits. For example, I might look for shapes. The clothes suggest the kinds of people. I look for their posture, the things they're doing, or the way they're walking. If I see something interesting, I try to sketch it fast, so I don't forget it. Tania Yakunova is an illustrator from Kyiv. As a child, she was always interested in drawing, inspired by her grandfather who was a professional artist. She began studying at art school at the age of 7, and after graduating from university, began working as a copywriter. Tania later went back to school to study design and discovered a love for illustration in particular, which she put into practice working in a motion design studio alongside freelance projects in everything from editorial illustration to packaging design.

Since then, she’s become a full-time freelancer and has exhibited her work in galleries in France, the US, Germany, Italy, and the UK. Tania has worked with brands like Coca-Cola, Google, Upwork, Penguin Random House, Amazon, Visa Gold, Yves Rocher, and Facebook. She also runs her own poster shop.
