Bojagi is a sewing technique with its roots in traditional Korean folk religions in which it was believed that wrapping something in these pieces assured good luck. In this online course, sisters Cecilia and Mercè González show you how this method has evolved and why it is so versatile.
After having brought you Silk Painting Techniques, the creators of the craft and textile art workshop Desedamas take you through the exciting process of applying Bojagi to your textile pieces, both by hand and with a sewing machine. Throughout the course, learn to create pieces to your liking by playing around with different shapes and sizes.

What's included in this course?
Cecilia and Mercè González start the course by explaining who they are and how two sisters ended up working together on Desedamas, their artistic project and way of life. They also show you their most significant influences and reference points.
Continue with a short presentation on the origins of Bojagi and its history. Get to know different types of fabrics and which ones are best suited for working with this technique.
Now it's time to learn how to work with Bojagi by hand. Mercè introduces you to the materials and how to prepare your fabric. She then guides you through some basic hand sewing and shows you how to do the edges and finish off the piece.
Next, discover the Alterbojagi technique, which was created by your teachers. Prepare the tools, as well as the sewing machine, and start stitching the fabric. Work your way through various sewing techniques, apply the finishing touches, and see how to remove the adhesive, wash, and iron your piece following Cecilia's instructions.
Finally, explore the endless creative possibilities of Bojagi and discover the myriad of ways you can incorporate it into a range of distinct projects.

Corso meraviglioso! Le insegnanti sono bravissime, le immagini molto chiare e si impara davvero a padroneggiare questa splendida tecnica. Sono molto soddisfatta di aver fatto questo corso! Unica pecca - ma non da poco - è la traduzione in italiano: davvero pessima, mai visto una traduzione fatta peggio! Fortunatamente capisco anche un po' lo spagnolo e quindi tra la lingua, i video e i pessimi sottotitoli sono riuscita a capire (quasi) tutto.

In the year 2000 they decided to turn their passion into a way of life and began to sell their work at craft fairs throughout Spain. In 2006, they began to combine silk with textile art, painting silk for patchwork pieces and working with specific techniques. They currently work in equal measure between craft and textile art, and also share their knowledge with others through different forms of training. In 2013, they both earned the Maestras Artesanas (Master Craftsperson) diploma.
