About the final project for: Illustration: Find Your Signature Style

Illustration: Find Your Signature Style

“We have now come to the end of this Domestika course. Thank you for your participation and your interest! I hope that I was able to give you useful tips for your own style development and illustrations. Now you can get on with your project and create your own illustrated poster with anthropomorphic animals. But first, let me remind you that I don't want you to follow my project to the last detail, but that you let your own inspiration run free and develop your own style. I'm very excited to see the different artworks that will collide in the forum! As a reminder, I have summarized the individual steps here again. Research: topic and images First, think of a theme for your illustration and look for possible references and ideas, as well as photos of animals that fit the theme. Look at the typical features and characteristics of the animals and try and think about how you can transfer them to the human world.

Sketches Convert your collected ideas into sketches. In Photoshop, first draw the individual anthropomorphic animals that will make up your poster, and then collage them into a coherent composition. Pay attention to your chosen topic - all elements should fit together.
Vectorization Then switch to Illustrator to vectorize the sketch, add color, and flesh out the details. You don't necessarily have to edit the individual figures individually, you can actually vectorize the finished collaged image directly. Finally, also add textures and gradients to the clean vector surfaces to make the image look a bit more organic.
light and shadow You can then edit your finished vectorized illustration in Photoshop. Add light and shadows to the shapes by applying shading. This can also add depth to your image.
Analog textures Finally, you create your own textures to make your illustration more exciting and individual. Draw different shapes and doodles on paper and digitize them to then insert them into your digital painting.
Upload your finished project to the forum by simply clicking on "Create your project". Remember to take photos of your workflow and share them with your final poster to see the progress. You can also add a short description to this. Do you have doubts, questions or ideas you would like to share? For this, the Forum is here. There you can not only present your work, but also exchange ideas with other course participants and find inspiration. I'll also be stopping by as often as I can to give you feedback and advice. I wish you lots of fun. See you soon! ”
