“Sketching Your Composition In this lesson, I'll take you through my sketching process. I'll start by doing a rough sketch, then I'll refine that a bit, and when I'm happy with my sketch, I'll transfer it to my paper that I'll do my final artwork on. To start, I'll use the same layout paper that I did in the previous lesson. I have written down the quote that I would like to do and I find this a lot easier. If you have it on your phone, you might have to get the screen on, then it'll turn off and you have to turn it on again, and it's a little bit interruptive so I quite like writing it down...”

After graduating, she moved to London, where she worked as a designer in digital agencies. Mathilda first fell in love with pointed pen calligraphy after attending a workshop in 2014. After being asked to teach the craft to others, she decided to pursue her passion for calligraphy as a career.

A few years later, Mathilda set up her own calligraphy studio in London, where she works on commissions for luxury brands and individuals around the world. She also personalizes gifts and teaches workshops on the art form. Mathilda has worked on projects for events like The Queen’s Polo for Cartier, and created personalized items and packaging for brands like L.K Bennet, Paperchase, and Goop.
