“I want to show you now some of my influences, all these things, works and designers have shaped my taste and style of the designer that I am. The first things I will show you are the chromatic influences. These things are tools that I use every day as a designer. First we have color cards. For example, we have the letter of wool, they are samples of colors, I think they have a brightness, a very rich texture and they inspire me a lot. All these things I show you because they remind me a lot when I was a girl as I told you before, when I went with my mom, bought wool and I felt like it to do...”

Karen Barbé is an embroidery artist and designer with more than a decade of experience. She shares her knowledge and passion for color by teaching classes in different educational institutions and has even published a book on the subject: Color Confident Stitching: How to Create Beautiful Color Palettes.
Karen learned to embroider, knit, and sew from her mother starting at a young age, skills that have led her to work in the retail and marketing industry, as well as teach university-level classes to students studying design. In 2015, she earned a certificate in hand embroidery from the Royal School of Needlework in the UK. From her studio in Santiago, Chile, Karen teaches her students how to embroider and create color palettes while constantly experimenting with new embroidery designs and patterns in her personal projects.
