About the final project for: Design & Illustration of Dynamic Characters

Design & Illustration of Dynamic Characters

“You have reached the end of the course, I hope you had as much fun as I did. I tried to share with you everything I've learned over the years in my career as an illustrator. So now that you have the necessary tools, it's time to carry out your course project. Before saying goodbye, I want to share an example of how I would like to see the 5 essential steps to carry out your projects: Basic characteristics The first step is to carry out the character quiz. It can be the complete questionnaire or you can define only the basic characteristics.

Sketch: neutral position Make the first sketch of your character. From my experience you should start by sketching the character in a neutral position. For this phase of the project, you must remember that the sketch does not have to be a finished illustration, a simple one is fine.
Sketch: dynamic position Now that you know what your character looks like in a neutral position, it's time to spice it up. Draw the sketch of your character in a dynamic position. For this position, it would be ideal if you do more than one and show them.
The color Defines the flat color dynamic position, great if you did more than one color scheme.
Illustration Add shadows, highlights, and the right background to the illustration. When finished, add any final details. Don't forget that details can make a big difference in making your illustration stand out.
Keep in mind that this is only the way in which I work and carry out my projects, but you can adopt and adapt the steps that you think are most convenient for your creative process. Once your project is ready, I would love for you to upload it to the forum by clicking on "Create your project". I will be giving you feedback as soon as possible. However, please be patient as it may take a while for answer. While you wait, observe the work of the rest of your classmates. I invite you to exchange ideas with them, always in a respectful way. In this way we can help each other and learn from each other. Thank you very much for completing the course, see you soon in the forum.”

Partial transcription of the video

“Well, we've reached the end of the course. and it is said that 92% of people do not finish what they start, so i'm honored that you're watching this video. I hope you have learned something new and that your desire to create has increased. Now I want to review the main things I have taught you. and I would like you to replicate it in your illustrations. First, use lots of references, This is the fastest method to learn. We all have an idea of what a dog or a head looks like, but our idea of reality may be far away without even knowing it. So when we use references, we are doing the exercise...”
