About the final project for: Artistic Drawing and Narrative Techniques for Picturebooks

Artistic Drawing and Narrative Techniques for Picturebooks

“You have reached the end of the course, congratulations! This is just the beginning, surely you have a lot of ideas and the books you review now seem different to you. Before I say goodbye, I want to give you some final advice and recap the process on the way to your final project. Choose the popular song that you are going to use for your project.

Now that you have your song chosen, do an association exercise until an interesting idea comes up.
Start creating your narrative game, looking at the rhythm, the wink and the composition.
Take your ideas to the storyboard, make notes of everything that helps you create your model.
Assemble all the printed images to create your mockup.
Choose the artistic technique and the material that you liked the most to work on your complete illustration.
Experiment with a different support and material. You may find something that will help you mark a particular style in your book.
Once you have your first double page you can continue with the sketches of the most important pages of your book. Scan and print the parts of your model for assembly. Print more than one material so you can have one as a backup and another to write down details such as measurements, colors, defects, etc.
And that's it from my side. For this capstone project, remember to pick a song and go from there. I will be very aware of your project, your questions and comments, I am excited to see what you have invented with the song you have chosen. My last recommendation is that you participate in the forum, get involved in the conversation with your colleagues, the conversation fuels creativity. See ya! ”
