“Varnishing In this lesson, I'll show you some possibilities for varnishing your canvas. I like to apply varnish when the canvas is already dry to the touch. Varnish offers a finish, evens out the paint, protects it, and helps it last longer. I prefer to use spray varnish. It's more practical, dries faster, and it’s better than liquid varnish, which you have to apply with a brush. Often, a small bit of the painting that is still wet may compromise your canvas's varnish. That's why the spray option is better.
