About the final project for: Design and Creation of Award-Winning Products

Creating products to compete in design awards

“We have reached the end of the course. Thank you for having participated! Before we say goodbye, we want to review the most important steps you must follow to carry out your project. It would be great if you showed an image of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. So we can give you feedback. Project preparation To start, we recommend that you research what type of product you would like to design and what your style is. Choose the company for which you are going to carry out your project. It will help you narrow down the style and the product. Study their catalog and find the gap where you could develop a new project. Next, do an image search for inspiration, references, and possible competition for your product. When you have all the necessary information, create the project briefing.

It is also very useful to make one or several mood boards to help you later in the product design phase.
Sketches Make sketches and go discarding and selecting to advance. We remind you that it is an exploration process, so allow time for your ideas to take shape.
3D Design When you have your final sketch ready, transfer it to the computer and complete it in 3D. Then choose colors, materials and finishes.
Presentation Finally, put together a presentation where you show your inspirations, general measurements and product renders. It is always good to include a small presentation about yourself so that they relate you to the product. In the downloadable resources of Unit 3 we have left you the presentation of our product to serve as a reference and inspiration. If you have the chance, you can create a model or prototype to bring your project to life, as we taught you in Unit 4. If you dare to do so, we would love to see how it turned out on the forum. Now share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both your creative process and the result of your project in the forum. We will be delighted to see your creation and give you our feedback. Finally, we want to invite you to actively participate in the forum, not only sharing your progress, but also giving advice and trying to help the rest of the community. It sure is very enriching! See you on the forum!”

“Final project We have finished our course and we don't want to leave without reviewing the most important steps for you to carry out your project. First of all, we recommend that you investigate what kind of product would you like to design. Industrial design serves to meet the needs of society, so you can design any product that meets these needs. Then we recommend that you explore if your style is emotional, sober or artistic. Do not stop looking for references around you, as these will help you find your style. Once you have decided which piece you are going to design, try to create a br...”

In 2006, industrial designers Clara del Portillo and Álex Selma joined forces and their passion for design to open Yonoh Creative Studio, a product design studio in Valencia that has received some of the industry's most distinguished awards such as iF, Red Dot, and the 2019 German Design Award.

The name of the studio itself is an ambigram that represents the company's dual nature: two designers with different styles who complement one another beautifully.
