About the final project for: Artistic Oil Portraiture on Paper

Artistic Oil Portraiture on Paper

“We have reached the end of the course and I thank you for being part of it. I hope it has been useful to you! You can use these same steps to create several other portraits or paintings with different themes. Now it's your turn to work on your project (or finish it, if you had already started it throughout the course). Remember to save photos or files of your process (from the sketches to the final result). I would like you to use them to explain what you did, how you did it and why. It will be very useful not only as a reminder of your process but so that others can understand your process and learn from it. This is how we can all progress together! It will also allow me to better guide you if you have questions. These are the main steps to follow to carry out your project. I chose the image to portray and prepare your materials.

Draw the basic geometric structure of your composition.
With a wide brush, I covered the main areas set by the three values: light, midtone and shadow.
Highlight small areas within the main ones, using hue and temperature contrasts .
Make details , redraw planes that you want to highlight and delete those that are of less interest.
Once you have everything ready, upload your creations to the forum! To do this, click on "Create your project". I'll stop by when I can to comment and answer your questions. In the meantime, see what others are doing and leave comments. Collaboration between artists is the best way to progress, plus lots of practice! See ya!”

“Final project I thank you for taking my course and I hope it helps you for your next projects. Remember that a good painting does not always have to represent reality exactly, but to embody that subjective expression that you are interested in communicating. With this guide you can make other projects with different themes. Observe and learn from other artists you admire. Combine different palettes and surfaces trying new materials to create different effects. Painting is sometimes difficult, but it is beautiful. Failure and frustration are not synonymous with failure. Always keep your mind...”
