Hand-Lettering Sketchbook: Techniques to Unlock Creativity
“You have reached the end of this course, so congratulations to you! Thanks for trusting me to be your teacher, it’s been a pleasure sharing with you all I learned on my way through the world of lettering. Sharing what we love to do is an amazing way to give the world a piece of us. During this course, I have shown you some exercises to help you be more confident about your letterings. As a final challenge now it’s your turn to create your own final project! Try to begin by drawing in your sketchbook without a specific aim in mind. Are you ready? Will you take the challenge? If your answer it’s yes, let me show you an example of the steps I would like to see in your final project. Play The Music Play your chosen music and try to get lost in your drawing, almost like a state of creative meditation! Headphones can help you to enter the ‘zone out’ to the music, especially if you have a lot of background noise. Pick out a short lyric - something that resonates with you - it could be anything! Try and keep it to around 3 to 5 words, this will make it quicker and easier to draw and develop. The phrase I selected is: "All together now" Draw! Draw and redraw over and over! This is how you and your designs will become better. Repeating your drawing is a great way to slowly develop the art, tweaking it with every new drawing and experimenting with small changes as you go.
