“ Refining Sketch for Legibility In the previous lesson, I showed you how to fit your lettering into your composition and I started my base sketch. In this lesson, I will show you how I refine my sketch as well as styles for legibility. When it comes to these styles, you want to take into account how well something can be read. If something becomes too hard to read, it loses its legibility, and it loses the whole message behind it. For this project, my audience is about three to five years old. Shauna Lynn is a hand-lettering artist and illustrator based in the United States. She has been drawing since she was able to hold a pencil and was always encouraged to pursue her artistic side by her creative parents. After starting an opera program at the University of North Florida, she transferred to a bachelor's of fine arts with a focus on graphic design and digital media. From there, she worked in a number of internships and had her poster design accepted by the Communication Arts Typography Competition which launched her freelance career.
Since then, Shauna has worked for clients including Adobe, Microsoft, Samsung, Twitter, and Facebook. Her work, which she creates from her home studio near Chicago, has been featured in Advanced Photoshop Magazine, PRINT Magazine, Dribbble, and more. She is also the co-author of Creative Lettering and Beyond, has hosted numerous workshops, and spoken at events including Adobe MAX 2020.
