About the final project for: Illustrating Fantastical Animals with Procreate

Illustrating Fantastical Animals with Procreate

“Congratulations! You have reached the end of this Domestika course. Thank you very much for joining and I hope you had fun! It's now time to work on your project. This could mean finishing the design you started while completing the exercises, or you could make a brand new project! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell us if you have any doubts. This will help me understand your creative process and guide you better if you need advice. Here are the main steps to follow: Preparing the Workspace First of all, get to know your working tools and explore different brushes. Take time to test new things, and you will often find some cool new textures and ideas. Gathering Inspiration Before starting to draw, collect ideas and develop them in more detail by creating a mind map. Don't limit yourself: write everything down and then see how you can connect all the ideas. Then, search for references and create a mood board to pinpoint the character you have in mind. The Sketch Once you're ready, sketch out your ideas.

Select your favorite and improve its silhouette and pose.
The Details Now it's time to refine the details! Design the clothes and props. To spark new ideas, I recommend looking at your mood board for inspiration.
Adding Color Once your base design is finished, create some different color schemes. When struggling to choose colors, search for references that fit your idea!
Now, add the lighting. To do this, define a light source. This way, you will always know the lighter and the darker side of your character. Use the Gaussian blur and clear shapes for a quick and easy background. Once the drawing is done, export your file. Choose the format according to where you want to share it (social media, portfolio print, etc.).
And that's all! I can't wait to see your amazing illustrations! Remember to choose your favorite animals and topics, so you create your own version that speaks to you. Every one of us sees and interprets the world differently, and that’s truly beautiful. So, remember to share your unique ideas and combinations with us! You can do this by clicking on the above link "Create your project". I look forward to seeing what you come up with and hope you're also curious to discover the creations of your fellow students. So, share your work in the forum and comment on each other's projects. Thanks again!”

“ Final Project Thank you a lot for joining my Domestika course. I hope you had fun creating your own special animal character. Before you go, I have some extra tips. It's always important to get to know your working tools, so I encourage you to take some time getting used to Procreate and exploring some different brushes. Also, from time to time, mix things up a little bit. Do little practices that you would show no one. Test new things, things you maybe don't feel comfortable with, just to practice and try new stuff. This way you will often find new textures and ideas. If you are drawing ...”
