“ Toning and Color Grading Now that our film is developed, we will go into Photoshop and edit our images. We're here in Photoshop. I have one of my favorite images from the shoot and I will walk you through how I tone and color grade my images just to add a bit more color, pop, and character to the image. What I first start doing is I usually crop in on my image if it needs to be cropped. I've already cropped this image for a 6 × 7 ratio, which is the same ratio that my camera is, the Mamiya 6 × 7. I always start by adding Selective Color. I always start with my Reds and work my way down. S...”

Atlanta-born Kendall Bessent is a photographer and creative director based in New York City. He never planned to pursue photography, but it’s something he fell into, and later, in love with. He eventually went on to study this art form in college. Through his work, he explores the complexities of the Black experience and Black emotion with the aim of instilling self-love and confidence in people who look like him.
Kendall has collaborated with publications such as Teen Vogue, The New York Times and The Cut, and his work has been featured in the Washington Post, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and i-D, as well as in exhibits by Fotografiska NYC. He was also selected for a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Art & Style list in 2022.
