About the final project for: Introduction to Interior Architecture: Renovate a House

Introduction to Interior Architecture: Renovate a House

“Thank you very much for having participated in the course and having shared this time with us. We hope you enjoyed it a lot and that our tips help you in your projects. Before we say goodbye, let's review the key phases of the project. We would like you to briefly explain what you have done in each one and to accompany the explanation with one or more images. Space analysis Through a survey and some photos, you will be able to produce an analysis of the space you have visited. We advise you to look at the structural system, locate those installations that you cannot change and, last but not least, do not forget to analyze the environment that surrounds the project.

Limits and hidden potentials Mark on your plans everything that the previous analysis has suggested to you. Look at the path of the light, the framework of the structure, the position of the installations... Try to imagine the spaces without anything that you consider superfluous or dispensable so as not to limit your imagination. It is also very useful to generate a mood board with references to convey to the client the atmosphere or some concepts that you want to apply to the reform.
The brief Define a questionnaire for the client in order to detect their needs, their priorities and investigate the viability of your ideas. In Unit 2 we leave you an example that can serve as a basis for developing the brief document that best suits your project. Do not forget to create questions that help you understand how your client lives his day to day (in the case of a housing project) or what values he wants to convey to the public (in the case of offices or commercial spaces).
Distribution Generate and draw a new distribution that is the result of the answers of the brief and the previous analysis. Don't forget to highlight hidden potentials and don't be put off by limits; try to transform them on occasions to add value to your project.
Palette of materials, colors and textures Select a palette of materials, colors and textures consistent with the space and with the idea and values you want to convey. Don't forget to check out your full palette of materials and textures on site. To ensure the result of your combination, we advise you, when possible, to bring the samples to the place of the reform. You will thus be able to check how the light and the environment dialogue with your palette and decide if it satisfies you or if you have to go back and change something.
Mood boards You can generate some mood boards to show your client what are the atmospheres that you want to transmit in your project. This will help you get a spatial view of your ideas.
Sketches of key spaces Make some freehand sketches or based on photos of the existing space. Give them life with colors and textures as we have explained in the course.
Presentation for the client Finally, using a layout program, you can now gather all the material (plans, sections, mood boards and sketches) in a single document that gives the client an idea - from the general space to the details - of what you want to create. In Unit 4 we leave you as an example our presentation so that it can inspire you.
Now share your final project with the community by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result and the steps that have led you to it. We are looking forward to seeing your project and entering the forum as much as we can to give you feedback. Anyway, we also want to invite you to actively participate in the forum, not only sharing your progress, but also giving advice and trying to help the rest of the community. See you on the forum!”
