About the final project for: Naturalist Journaling with Watercolor

Naturalist Journaling with Watercolor

“We have reached the end. I hope you have enjoyed and learned a lot. Now is the time to present your final project. In this project you can add the pages you want for your diary. I have made six pages, but remember that with this way of binding you can add the pages you want. Before saying goodbye, we are going to review the phases of your project that I want you to show me: Search for inspiration The first step is to find photos of insects that are interesting to you for some reason. You can paint the ones I have made and add as many as you want. Remember that I enclose in resources many photos of insects so that you can be inspired. You can also look for photographs of plants related to the insects that you have chosen or look for other plants that interest you for some other reason and paint as many as you want.

Pages with insects and flowers In Unit 3 of the course I have painted a page with two insects (a grasshopper and a stick insect) and another with two plant elements (a simple flower and a pumpkin flower).
You can always add more elements to your pages. Find information about them and include them in the compositions you make, if you feel like it.
Composition with an insect as the protagonist In Unit 4 of the course I have painted a butterfly. Before starting I looked for all the possible information about her. In addition, I have accompanied the butterfly with other elements to create a striking composition.
Bind With all the pages finished, it's time to bind. Prepare the two gray cardboard, tissue paper to make the first page and fold all the pages and arrange them within your journal. Glue all the pages as I have taught you in Unit 5.
Cover and final touches Remember that you can follow all my steps but always give your personal touch. In this case, I have painted the cover of a whole golden acrylic and I have chosen a typeface with which I felt comfortable. You can do it the same or choose another color or several colors and choose the typeface that you like the most. To finish, add below the font that you have chosen a drawing of a tiny insect. In this case I have chosen a kind of beetle, but you can choose whatever you want. On the first page of the journal I have also made a small drawing of some other insect as an introduction. Finally, I have written the title on the spine of the journal, so once it is finished and placed in a bookstore, I will be able to choose the journal knowing what topic it is. Remember that I have done it about insects, but this journal can be applied to everything you want and are interested in. Imagination is free!
Now share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". It would be great to see how you apply everything you've learned to your own pages. We want to see the insects and flowers that you have made, but also your own contribution of some new insects or plants so that all of us can share our creations and learn from the creations of others. I also want to invite you to actively participate in the forum, both sharing your progress and giving advice and trying to help the rest of the community. It is sure to be very enriching for everyone! I have shown you a way, but the possibilities are endless, so create your journal without limits. See you on the forum! ”

“Final project We've reached the end of this Domestika course. I hope I've taught you how to make a beautiful journal with watercolor insects. You learned to create pages that are full of life and how to bind your book by hand. Before saying goodbye, I want to summarize everything we did. First I showed you the materials we used for the activities and the final project. Our first page had several insects. The first one was a grasshopper in order to work with volume, and the second one, a stick insect, to work with the transparency of the wings. I showed you how to work without worrying about...”
