About the final project for: Introduction to Voice-Over Narration

Introduction to Voice-Over Narration

“I hope you had a great time during the course. I trust that you can apply what you have learned both in your career and in your daily life. As a final project, you will have to voice a descriptive narrative text or an advertising text, whichever you prefer. In Unit 3 I spoke as an example a chapter of Platero y yo, by Juan Ramón Jiménez, and a publicity text from Escuela de guitarristas. Next, we are going to review the key phases of the project. I would like you to show me an image of each phase and add a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. The text Choose the text you want to voice, be it a narrative-descriptive or an advertising one. In the additional resources of the course I have left you several websites where you can get texts to do them. Read it carefully and analyze its characteristics to plan how you are going to voice it, in which parts to support, how are the cadences, etc. Make marks and notes with everything you analyze.

The team Prepare your recording equipment. With a simple computer microphone and cases you can do your project. If you have some more equipment (a higher quality microphone, a sound interface, etc.) connect it and prepare everything so that the recording is as comfortable as possible.
Trials As a colleague told me, "The best thing is to repeat." Work on the text practicing different changes in volume, timbre, intonations, includes music or not (if it is an advertising text), etc. Record the audio to detect what you like and what you don't and to improve it. You can also record yourself on video so that you can see your gestures and analyze if you can modify something and obtain better results.
Locution Finally, after all the preparation, practice and vocal warm-up, record the voiceover of your text. In Unit 3 of the course you can see the examples that I have done.
You can record the final voiceover on video, upload it to YouTube and share the link or record only the audio and upload it to a platform such as Soundcloud to be able to share the link as well. If you want to do it both ways, you can do it too. I am looking forward to seeing your work! To share your final project click on "Create your project". Remember to share both your final speech and the different phases of preparation of your project. It would be great if in each one you explain what you have done with a brief written explanation of what you have done and that you accompany it with an image, audio or video file. I will be happy to go through the forum as much as possible. I am looking forward to seeing and hearing your project! I also want to invite you to actively participate in the forum, both sharing your progress and giving advice and trying to help the rest of the community. It is sure to be very enriching for everyone! See you soon!”

“Final Project This is the end of the Domestika course. I hope you’ve learned a lot, and had fun along the way. Apply what you’ve learned day to day whether you’re a professional or not. Before we say goodbye, let’s recap the most important points for your final project. First, read aloud often, record and listen to yourself. This will help you whatever stage of development you are in. Don’t be afraid to record and to listen to yourself. And repeat the exercise of reading aloud. This helps to hear yourself and to feel your comfortable voice and everything you’ve learned related to it, to be ...”
