About the final project for: Product Design: From 3D Prototyping to 2D Sketching

Product Design: From 3D Prototyping to 2D Sketching

“Thank you for joining me and allowing me to share my story and process with you. I hope this course has helped you transform your creative inspiration into a concrete design. For the course project, the possibilities are really endless. Choose a project that reflects your own personal style and personality. Let me show you an example of what I expect to see from your project: The Object and the Planes Pick an object you want to work with. Then, break it down into planes. In my case, I decided to make my own set of quick prototype mouse designs, but you can do whatever you want.

Create Different Rough Prototypes Once you have the planes, it’s time to start making different prototypes. You can use any kind of material that you think it’s going to work.
Create a Final Concept Prototype Now, it’s time to choose one of your 3 scrappy prototypes! Take your favorite methods and make a final prototype design to take into Sketchbook Pro.
From Prototype to Digital Take several photos of your prototype. Next, upload them to Sketchbook Pro and create your page composition, focusing on which views are necessary in order to tell the complete story of the concept.
The Last Details Start your digital rendering! Apply linework to your photo underlay in order to build a solid foundation for color, material and finish the CMF application. Besides, add highlights and shadows to the sketch. Also, don’t forget to add material realism. After that, add final design updates including new features, CMF changes, and minor form improvements.
While making your project, remember taking ideas and weaving them into tangible and visual stories is fascinating and inspiring. Solving problems through artistic means, trying to mesh your product design background with fine art, architecture, and photography will help you get your designs better. In a world that increasingly gives art education the short end of the stick, it is important to spread the power of design. I have made it my mission to help others discover their creative potential, therefore, I hope this course has helped you fall in love with product design. Working with students is an enriching experience and really inspires me to keep pushing the limits for myself and my students. When someone learns how to draw, they unlock so much potential, and seeing this in my work and in others inspires me. That's why I will be waiting for you to upload your project. I want to see what you have created! I will be giving you feedback as soon as I can. But be patient, it can take some time. Meanwhile, I encourage you to look at what your fellows are doing. Share with them some tips and tricks. I can’t wait to see your project! See you soon.”

“ Final Project We're at the end. I've had a great time sharing my story and some influences that helped me in my industrial design career. In this lesson, we'll review and I'll share personal tips to help you as you develop industrial design skills. First, make sure you have a clean workspace and all your tools are accessible. I use the retractable knife the most. I like having different settings with different depth cuts and I make sure to cleanly break off the end, so it's always sharp and you have a clean cut. Make sure to have the right tools for the job. Safety is important. Make sure...”
