About the final project for: Writing Fiction Threads on Twitter

Tell a story on Twitter

“We have reached the end of the course! Now is the time for you to post the thread you have prepared on Twitter and share it with us on the forum. I would also like to see the process that you have followed to imagine and write it, it will be very interesting to see what problems you have been encountering and what solutions you have come up with. In case it is a thread that you are going to publish over several days, remember that you have the option to interact with your audience and find a way to incorporate their comments into your story. And once you finish publishing it, don't forget all the tools that Twitter offers to better understand the scope and impact of your project. Next, we are going to review the phases of your project that I want you to show when you share your final project: The story you are going to tell For your story you can use any of the characters you have invented or the personal anecdote you worked on in the tasks that I have proposed during the course, but you can also start from scratch and think of a completely new story. The important thing is that you enjoy writing and preparing your story, that you write something that you as a reader would like to find one day on Twitter and that you do not shy away from experimenting. Come up with a story that represents you, with which you feel comfortable writing. It is going to be the best way for you to write something that you feel satisfied with regardless of the number of people who end up reading it. The starting point of my story was an old photograph that I found in which my uncle and my father appear; in addition, the latter holds a comic. From that photograph, I gradually developed the story and its different elements.

Structure of the narrative After finding the idea of the story, it is time to make an outline to structure it and then make the writing process easier and more orderly.
Drafting of the thread Let's do it! Write the thread taking advantage of everything you have created and organized in the previous phases. Remember that each tweet cannot exceed 280 characters and that you have the option of using images, videos and audios at your disposal. While you write (or when you finish, as you prefer), prepare the audiovisual material that will accompany the text; photograph or record everything that you will use to illustrate it. Here you can share some part of the text, tell how you have written it, explain what tool you have used to write and organize the content, and even attach some photos of the material that you will later use to illustrate the tweets.
Publication When you have everything ready, post your tweets if you haven't been posting them during the writing process. Share the link so we can dive into the history of the thread you created! Read the full story of Juan Sanz and Miguelito by clicking here .
Now share your final project with the community by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the link to your thread and the preparation phases that we just reviewed. It would be great if you wrote a brief explanation about what you have done in each one, and, if you can, support it with some graphic material (the outline of your story, some photos that you attach to the tweets, etc.). If you want to share the results of some of the practices you do during the course or share your Twitter thread on other networks, you can mention me with the hashtag #ManuelBartualDomestika I hope you liked everything I have told you and can take advantage of it, both for future stories you write on Twitter and those you can imagine and develop in any other medium. And again, thank you once again for choosing this Domestika course. A hug, and see you in the forum. ”

Manuel Bartual is a screenwriter, cartoonist and editor. He began creating his own comics, but for some time now he has also used film, television, novels, podcasts or social networks to tell stories. To do this, he experiments with the narrative possibilities offered by each medium, as he did with the fictional story that he narrated in a Twitter thread during the summer of 2017, which became a worldwide trending topic.

He has directed a dozen short films and a feature film (All your secrets, CANAL + award for the best film at the 18th Malaga Film Festival), drawn in publications such as El Jueves y Orgullo y Satisfaction and designed for El País, Santillana, Astiberri, Dibbuks and Es Pop, among others. He also runs, together with Alba Diethelm, the ¡Caramba! Publishing house, specialized in humor comics. His latest works include the novel El otro Manuel (Planeta, 2018), the reality show #ElGranSecuestro (for Playz de RTVE, in 2019) and Biotopía, a science fiction series in podcast format (2020).
