About the final project for: Introduction to Conceptual Portrait Photography

X Portrait Photography

“We've reached the end of the course. Hopefully you have the knowledge to produce unique portraits. Now I'd like to see your final project. These are the main steps of the process I'd love to see: Based on your artist’s compass, your mind map and your visual map, choose a subject that you would like to explore. Outline 3-4 key feelings that you’d like to express and think about how you could express those feelings in a portrait or a self-portrait. Create an art-direction board: put together your references on lighting, colour palette, props, clothing, hair, makeup, if relevant. Make sketches of camera vantage point and composition.

Prepare your set, making sure every detail reflects the outlined set of feelings. Position your subject (yourself), make sure your camera angle and the amount of space in the frame also reflect the character you are trying to create. Start taking pictures, keeping in mind what you’d like the viewer to FEEL when they see the final image. If you are photographing someone else, remember to talk and connect with them, make them feel how you want the image to feel. Select your best shots, comparing back with your mind map and your art direction board. Edit the tones and colour, following the steps shown to you in the last unit.
Please share your project by clicking on the "Create my project" button above. Also, I encourage you to take part in the forum by commenting and providing feedback to other fellow students. I hope you enjoyed my course. I'll try to answer all your questions in the forum as soon as I can. Thank you and keep creating! ”

“Final Project In this video, I'll outline what you need to do for your final project to successfully complete this course. Congratulations on completing all the lessons of this course. Now it's time to move on to the most rewarding part: the final project. After doing the artist's compass assignment and creating your mind map and visual map, you now understand more about yourself as a person, as an artist, and you probably already figured out what are the subjects that you think most concerning to you, the subject that touch your feelings the most. I would like you to focus on those subject...”
