Memoir Writing: Write a Personal Story for a Universal Audience

I absolutely loved this. This course gave me the structure (and impetus) to write the narration for a graphic memoir I have been thinking about for YEARS. I loved the tools and clear language, and the way she uses her own work to lead by example. Really great, relatable, experiential course.

I like the way She programmed the lessons. She's super clear.

Not only did I feel vindicated for my obsession with large blank pages, timelines and doing blocking by pen and paper, but I also feel ready now to give myself "permission" to continue writing my story! I was born and raised in South Africa during the difficult Apartheid years with a poet father, musician mother, one gay, obstinate brother and the oldest one suffering from schizophrenia in an insanely dysfunctional country. This course has given me courage. Thank you!

I am thoroughly enjoying the course. I like Maum's idea about the large white pieces of paper that can be written on while brainstorming an idea. Instead of going out to purchase sheets of white paper, I cut brown grocery bags into rectangular pieces; this works just fine. I just haven't been in the course this week; I have not been feeling well. Plan to resume Sunday.

i have lessened to several writting courses. All amazing and all aspiring. But this one by Courtney Maun has inspired me the most. She has come into my life at just the right time. I have so many stroies to tell.
It has taken me a long time to get here, where I am now. I am ready to tell my stories. Courtney Maun has made me want to take that jump.
A jump into the unknown, but a jump into the known.

I found the concepts a little difficult at first , but I persevered and I am so glad that I did. I found the course exceptionally good , having left writing aside for a few months it encouraged me to get back to it and more importantly gave me the strategies to make it an important part of my life, Would I encourage other writers to do this course ? very definitely .
