Illustrated Scenes in Photoshop: Turn Memories into Art

“We come to the end and it's time to say goodbye. Thank you for following this course. I hope it has been useful to you. Now you can make your own illustrated story with the tools and concepts that I teach you. It's time for you to carry out your project! To start, look for a story or anecdote and rely on photographs you have saved. Turn that story into an ordered narrative in several scenes or vignettes. I recommend that they be between 5 and 10 moments, so that the story is long enough and the story has a progression, but that it is not so extensive either. Lean on your graphic inspiration : be it the work of others, photographs or videos. All this will help you imagine the graphic universe of your illustrations. Deepen your graphic search through sketches of characters, elements and textures made with pencil and charcoal. This will help you find your own style and begin to bring your story to life.

Then, sketch each of the scenes or vignettes , drawing them on different identical squares. It is at this moment that the story begins to be glimpsed as a whole; so it is important that you review and make all the text corrections that you want to make.
In the digital process, define your color palette and start painting . Experiment as much as you want, just keep in mind that color helps you reinforce the atmosphere of your project.
Experiment with the textures you've created.
Then apply a font and customize it to your liking. This will also enhance the graphic originality of your work.
Once you have all your bullet points finished, share your project on the forum. Tell us about the different stages of your process: what were your sources of inspiration, what were the reasons why you chose that format or that color, etc. If you want, you can also add the photographs that helped you to build your story. I'll be looking at the different projects posted and responding to posts. Sometimes it may take a while, but don't worry! In the meantime, I suggest you look at what others have created and comment on their projects. If you also upload the project to Instagram, as I showed you in Unit 4, add the post link to your project. I wish you success and we are seeing each other! ”

Now let's review with the main stages you have to do for your illustrated story. We begin by identifying the story, based on a personal experience, and then separate it into scenes and write the text. I showed you my process for looking up reference images. Then we continue with the process of graphic experimentation to find characters and textures on paper. Then I showed you how to make the sketches of each of the scenes. Starting the digi...”
