Introduction to Music Production
“You have reached the end of the course, thank you very much for joining me, I hope you have enjoyed this adventure as much as I have. The world of music is fascinating and creating your own songs is even more so. Take advantage of your identity to create what will give you a sound and musical personality that will represent you and help you share your vision of life through sounds! To carry out your final project you must choose a genre in which you want to compose and produce. I recommend that you go for a genre that you enjoy listening to or with which you feel identified, since knowing it will make it much easier to capture it in your final project. Select a chord progression: at this point you can use the same chords that I used in my example, but I recommend that you explore different options and try which chords best represent what you want to share. Set a tempo, experiment again and let yourself be carried away by what you feel. Remember the guidelines that I explained, so you can define a musical style or genre. Then, choose a structure, I recommend that you try to define with it the musical discourse that you want to convey. Find out if your song needs a "bridge" or not or if a "C part" is really necessary in your production Later, define the instruments with which you are going to represent the musical idea and dress the song. Start capturing and recording your ideas in the DAW and start shaping your production. Don't be afraid to experiment with different sounds and let yourself be carried away by what the music tells you. Create a musical melody either with an instrument or a letter using your voice; in this part you can use the resources of major and minor scales and I recommend, since this part is purely visceral, that you flow, that you record and record everything that occurs to you at the moment. You never know when an idea might be great and you better have it somewhere so you can put it to use! Finally, take a step back and try to put yourself in the ears of someone who doesn't know you and is listening to your song for the first time. In this way you will be able to identify if the idea is on the right track. In the opposite case, review and make the decisions that you think directed the production where you imagine, making arrangements, changing instruments or simply speeding up or slowing down the tempo of the song. When you are satisfied with your idea, I invite you to polish it, with the audio tools you have acquired, so that your composition shines and sounds neat, in order to transmit 100% of the original idea. Share your piece of music on the forum! I ask you to last at least three minutes so that we can appreciate your work. Be sure to share what you created, as this way I can give you feedback and we can continue learning together. In addition, I invite you to listen to the musical pieces of the rest of your classmates, you will surely find something that you love! We will hear each other soon on the forum!”
