    Cartoon and Humor Artist

A graduate in advertising and public relations, and staunch defender of creativity in any department and sector, Raúl has undertaken countless creative projects. In 2006, along with other colleagues, he founded the Círculo Rojo advertising agency, where he was in charge of the creative department and the design area. He has combined this in recent years with other marketing roles in other non-agency projects.

Currently, he is reaping the fruits of those years when he kept his own blog of cartoon humor and current affairs, Un Respeto a las Canas , which has led him to publish continuously in the satirical magazine El Jueves or in various online newspapers.

    FAQs

A current events cartoon is a brief illustration that tackles recent social, political, or economic topics, using humor or critique to spark opinion and debate. It helps simplify complex messages and encourages reflection in media and on social platforms.

The course is intermediate level, perfect for those with basic drawing skills or an interest in graphic humor who want to deepen their understanding and creation of current events cartoons.

You’ll learn to distinguish between informative and opinion cartoons, craft critical scripts, apply graphic humor techniques, master political satire, and develop your own style for creating and sharing current events cartoons.

You only need basic drawing supplies (paper, pencils, markers) and access to a computer with graphic editing software like Photoshop to digitize and color your cartoons.

An effective opinion cartoon combines a clear script, expressive drawing, and a critical message that invites reflection. Balancing humor with the core idea is key to grabbing attention and getting your point across.

Pick a relevant topic, write a script with a critical angle, and use tools like comparison, double meanings, or exaggeration to strengthen your visual and humorous message.

Avoid defamation, respect people’s image rights, and steer clear of hate speech or discrimination. It’s important to differentiate between fair satire and gratuitous offense, and to know the current laws on freedom of expression.
