Botanical Patterns in a Sketchbook: Conquer the Blank Page

“Hey, my creatives! This is our last lesson. Thank you for joining me in this amazing journey. You can find a lot of examples of floral motifs on my Instagram. Please don't repeat, but create something new and personal. I'm sure you have your own magical story and artistic voice. And it would make me very happy if you would share your art with us! Now, your turn to create! Find your inspiration, decide on the subject matter, art media, and a color palette. Maybe make a little sketch first and then just start to draw in your sketchbook. Don't be afraid of it. It's your sketchbook that exists for your artwork. It doesn't have to be perfect! Please just freely express your feelings through colors and shapes! Here is an example of how I would like you to present your final project: Abstract Composition I suggest that you start with one of the boldest color schemes using complementary and split complementary colors. I've used yellow, dark blue, light blue and orange. I think it's a good idea that you use three to six colors at the beginning because it might be easier this way.

Big Blossoms I've drawn tiny sketches before I started the illustration. That's always helpful! Then I've followed the step-by-step we went through in Unit 4 to get my illustration done.
Interlaced Plants For this illustration, I recommend that you use three or four colors: one color for the background and one for each of the plants. This pattern may seem complicated, but I believe that, with practice, you will get it done easily!
You’ve drawn three wonderful illustrations practicing the theory: one abstract motif and two floral patterns. Now it’s your time to upload your artwork on the Domestika forum to get feedback from me and other students. I also invite you to use the hashtags #PolinaOshuDomestika and #floralpages to support and inspire each other on Instagram. I’ll be so happy to see the variety of your artwork under this hashtags. I can't wait to see your floral patterns in your sketchbooks! Experiment with art styles and media, share your creations with our art community, and please give your supportive feedback to other students. I believe it's very important to create consistently, communicate, and share your art. In this way, we can as artists. You can ask me any questions you may have in the forum, but please be patient, I’ll answer them as soon as I can. I also believe it can be helpful to receive advice and support from your coursemates, so don't hesitate to help each other. Explore, create and share!”
