“Thank you very much for having participated in this course !! One of my main objectives when considering this journey was to silence or silence that inner critic that sometimes does not let us enjoy the processes. Also understand that perhaps creativity implies moments of high, but also moments in which we doubt everything. I don't want you to feel that the blank page is an enemy, quite the opposite; the blank page hides multiple possibilities. That is why throughout the course I have proposed you all kinds of materials and homemade tools, to lose your fear of drawing, materials and that need to be perfect from the first moment. My project For my course project, I used the STONE method to clarify my thoughts, find ideas that I feel comfortable with and like to work with, or feel connected in some way, and understand what I want to tell. Next, I showed you a lot of different painting techniques, I drew with wine, coffee or tea. I showed you how I build brushes or tools, I played with pens, foam rubber, I even showed you Japanese engraving techniques and engraving techniques with polystyrene and tetrabrick. All this helped me to propose various final projects, artist books, fanzines, objects. My ideas kept changing and flowing as I materialized them.

“Final Project Congratulations! You've reached the end of the course. Now you’ve silenced or negotiated with or reached a truce with your inner critic. You’ve also left behind any blocks, expectations, and demands. I hope others’ opinions don't matter to you in terms of your drawings or creations. That’s not what matters in this course. I want to thank you for joining me on this course. Adolfo Serra
A course by Adolfo Serra
Adolfo Serra (Teruel, 1980) studied Advertising and Public Relations at the Complutense University of Madrid, but it wasn't long before he decided to follow his childhood passion for drawing by reconnecting with pencils and watercolors at the Escuela de Arte 10 in Madrid. Since then he's been no stranger to colors, papers, textures, and stories.
He loves to experiment with techniques, play with materials, and, above all, tell stories with his art. He considers himself a trailblazer of blank pages who maps uncharted territory with illustrations for children and young adults.
His illustrations have been featured at the Bologna Children's Book Fair (Italy), Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava (Slovakia), Sharjah Children's Book Fair (United Arab Emirates), Ibero-American Illustration Contest (Mexico), CJ Picture Book Awards (Korea), and the International Exhibition of Illustrations for Children in Sàrmede (Italy).
His wordless version of Little Red Riding Hood has been published in Spain, Germany, France, and Mexico, and has won numerous awards. He also won the 19th A la Orilla del Viento Award for illustrated album from the Fondo de Cultura Económica.
