About the final project for: Drawing of Fantastic Animals in Graphite and Watercolor

Artistic pencil drawing

“We have reached the end of the course! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Before I go, I want to recap the steps to get to your final project. The first thing to do is identify your creative drive: What do you mean by your drawing? This will give you the starting point for your creation process. Start by making sketches in your blog, I advise you to make several so that you can choose the one you like the most. Sometimes it happens that we think we have our final art in the first sketch but it is better to try different possibilities until you are surprised.

Then go to the structural sketch, which must be of the same measurements as the final art (A3 format), since it will be traced. Take into account: composition, proportion and symmetry in the elements and characters. Lean on reference images that help you to a good description of the shapes and anatomies.
Once you have traced the sketch to the final format with the help of the greaseproof paper, start with the watercolor. Apply the translucent layering technique until you reach the darkest and most saturated pigments. Follow with the graphite pencil drawing and smudge with graphite powder to later draw very smoothly and obtain realistic effects.
Finally, apply the details, intensify both the dark and the lights and clean the drawing to lacquer it. This is the moment when you will finally see your flawless art, ready to be digitized and then framed. Finally, do not forget to complete the tasks, share your progress and upload your final project to give you my appreciation. Comment in the forum your impressions and the work of your colleagues, the diverse opinions enrich our creative processes. It has been a pleasure doing this project with you, I hope you found it interesting and you have learned a lot about these two beautiful techniques creating your own fantastic characters. See you on the forum! ”
