Miniature Needlework: Make Embroidered Jewelry

“Now that you’ve reached the end of the course, let’s review what you’ve learned. In this course, I wanted to teach you embroidery fundamentals and how to apply them to miniature embroidery. Step one is gathering your materials. You don’t have to spend a lot of money upfront to acquire some basic embroidery supplies, like fabric, needles, an embroidery hoop, and some thread, which I think is great. Next, I showed you some embroidery stitches. We started with split stitch, split backstitch, satin stitch, and turkey work, and then finally learned long and short stitch, which is the primary stitch used in thread painting. When you’re blending your colors as you’re thread painting, remember to stagger the stitches, as that will achieve a more natural, smooth transition into the next row of colors. Each consecutive row of stitches must encroach on the previous row for a smooth look. I also showed you how to transfer the design to the fabric and choose a color palette.

Then I showed you how to create three miniature needle paintings and mount them into necklace settings. Remember to always use archival-quality cardstock for your jewelry inserts to preserve your work. I hope this course inspires you to continue to create miniature embroidery and design your own patterns.
Woodland animals are my favorite subject, but you can choose any theme you like.
Create a mood board for your reference and inspiration photos, then start with a simple sketch. Don’t be discouraged if you feel that you don’t have strong drawing skills because when working on a small scale, the sketches don’t have to be very detailed. And then just remember to have fun! Embroidery is all about the process. It’s a timeless craft and I hope you find beauty in the slow and relaxing process. I hope you continue to develop your skills and I’m here to help you along the way if you have any questions. I also want to encourage you to participate in the forum and comment on your colleague's works, a second opinion is invaluable! Also, join the embroidery community on Instagram if you decide to share your work with the whole world, use #MossAndFeatherDomestika so I can track down all the photos. Start making friends in the stitching community! Thank you so much for taking this course with me. I hope you enjoyed it and I welcome any feedback. ”
