About the final project for: Design and Build Miniature Interiors

Design and Build Miniature Interiors

“We’ve reached the end of the course. I hope that you found it useful and that it provided you with the necessary resources to carry out your project. You have learned all about some of my favourite tools and materials that I use to create my models. Now it's time for you to draw up your plans and start working on your final project. First, start the cutting out and create the main structure of the room. Use the different cutting, painting, and staining techniques that I showed you. You will have to create a wooden floor for your room, as well as the windows, and also clad the back wall. Then, assemble all of the parts so you have a completed room structure. After that, build your furniture and accessories. I supplied you with all of the templates you need, and I also taught you how to create your templates if you want to design a different piece of furniture.

Now you only need to decorate your room with the furniture and take a moment to enjoy the final result.
My main recommendation with a project like this is to be patient with yourself. When I'm making things, I still get them wrong all the time, and many things take quite a few attempts. Another tip is to take time in the planning stages. Check you are happy with your measurements and the scale before you start cutting your materials. It will save you a lot of time and money in the long run. I would also recommend watching the whole course from start to finish before you start making it. You might find it helpful to understand where we are going with it. If you want to personalise the project, you could consider painting your floor a different colour or staining the wall cladding using some of the techniques I have shown you. Perhaps you want to create a concrete floor or terrazzo-effect floor. You could also introduce print or a pattern by using small-scale prints on lightweight fabrics for the seat pad and cushion. There is a lot of freedom to make this project your own. I hope that the techniques and skills that I have taught you will be a springboard for you to create your designs. Don't forget to share your project on the forum, with photos and a brief description of the steps you took. Also don’t be afraid to advise fellow course mates, as your experience can be super helpful to others learning these skills. I will also be answering questions in the forum. I am always quite busy working on commissions, so you may need to have a little bit of patience but I will get back to you. Thanks so much for joining my course. I hope you enjoyed it and I can't wait to see what you all create! ”

“Final Project We've finished our course, so let us go over what we've created. I've shared with you a bit about my inspirations and influences, and the things that led me to do what I'm doing today. I've shown you the materials and tools that I use. And then we created some inspiration boards using Pinterest. Feel free to create your own boards in Pinterest. I've taught you about scale and I've shown you how I draw plans. We also did some cutting, we saw how to create walls, windows, and floors. And then how that all comes together with the painting and putting in the windows. And then we d...”
