About the final project for: Artistic Perspective: Interior Spaces from Your Point of View

Artistic Perspective: Interior Spaces from Your Point of View

“This is my Final Project unit. I hope you learned the basic rules of linear perspective well and you are more aware now about the long history of this technique that is so important today in reality representation. Now this is an exciting moment because you can unleash your creativity, your Daimon, and put him/her in contact with your perspective interpretation. I am very curious to see your personal idea of perspective, your vision of the world. Before you start to draw your final sketch, or even more than just one sketch in case you want to share many different tries about how you see the world, I would like to give you some recommendations about your personal project: As I showed you in the last unit, you should always try to be very different from me, so please, as I always say, do not copy me! What I showed you was just my vision of space. Please use your creativity! Creating means to make something new, something we have never seen before! Copying has nothing to do with creativity, even though it can have something to do with inspiration.

Finding your personal vision, your perspective, can be not so easy. Try to consider my influences concerning the perspective I showed you at the beginning of the course and think rather about your own inspirations. Walk around in the space you want to depict and try to observe it well also when you are walking, not just standing without moving. Probably you would like to add items with your fantasy in order to enhance some effect, or just because you like to add objects you like. Please do it if it improves your happiness and inspiration. Creativity drawing means to feel happiness, satisfaction and fun, even though sometimes it can be hard to reach the desired goals. Be patient and never give up! We reached the end of the course, I wish you a never ending inspiration and great goals with your art. As you have seen this course was about to make you aware of the importance of your personal vision as one of the key elements of your art and artistic language, not just like a technique you can learn easily everywhere. I strongly encourage you to share your project sketches in the forum and I kindly ask you to be patient if I cannot reply to you immediately. I am a professional illustrator and I cannot always be available because I have many projects to attend to. I am sure you understand. Finally I invite you to give advice to other course mates in the forum. Receiving other opinions in addition to mine will certainly be helpful. ”

“Final Project This is it, we have reached the end of this Domestika course. Now we are ready to start the project. Please choose an interior space, possibly with one window, or more, open to a cityscape so we are able to depict an exterior and an interior space. Draw the horizon line, choosing the level on your piece of paper, and then draw the vanishing point on this horizon. Then, begin to sketch the different items inside and outside and begin to connect the lines to the vanishing point, following your personal vision. Try always to maintain a certain harmony, coherent to what you are do...”

Italian artist Carlo Stanga’s illustration career combines his three passions: architecture, illustration, and travels. After studying Architecture in the Politecnico di Milano, he furthered his studies in Art and Design, which led him to work with major Italian magazines and newspapers, as well as international clients in Europe and the U.S.

After several years working in Architecture and Illustration separately, Carlo merged his two professions and became a leading expert in Architectural Illustration. He recently published a series of books with Moleskine, telling the illustrated story of 3 major cities: I am New York, I am Milan, and I am London, where he takes the reader on an immersive journey through each city, with illustrations of architecture, anecdotes, and the character that defines each city.

In 2019, he was a runner-up in the Creative Quarterly 55 for his illustration work in the book I am New York, and obtained the American Illustration Award 38. He holds a large number of awards for his work and has held personal exhibitions in New York and Milan. His long list of clients includes Trussardi, Moleskine, Lufthansa, Nestlé, Missoni, and more.
