About the final project for: Textile Pattern Design for Home Interiors

Textile Pattern Design for Home Interiors

“Dear students, Congratulations on reaching the end of the course, I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I did. Now we are going to make a quick recap of what we have seen in the course and the tasks I have given you. In Unit 1, you found out a bit more about me and the journey that inspired me to set up my own home textiles brand. You've also, had a look at the influences of my work. Remember that the key is to stay open and curious about unexpected discoveries. Create your mood board and your "shapes pool" We looked at the importance of creating a mood board and researching color trends and combinations before we begin to work on our designs. We also start by creating our “shapes pool” for creating the pattern. We worked on ourpattern, using our shapes for creating beautiful compositions by playing with repetition, reflection, and combining.

Finalise your compositions In Unit 3 we began to place our compositions onto the exact product template which will be used by the manufacturer you have chosen. In the Aditional Resources, you were able to download the templates for the kitchen towel, oven glove, and apron and work directly with the product size and tailoring requirements.
In Unit 4 we focused on production and post-production. We talked about how to find a suitable production partner for our products and the questions we need to ask before proceeding to order. In the last lesson, we learn about styling our products and the props and materials we may need when creating a photoshoot at home.
Finally, for the final project, I encourage you to create your own patterns and designs, follow your inspiration and your aesthetics. I hope this course has been helpful to kick-start some of your ideas and trigger the process of creating your first products. Making your own collection can be a bumpy road, but I hope that I have managed to answer some of your questions. I’m really excited to see your final projects and hear from you, don’t be afraid to send feedback to me whatever it is. Please feel free to reach out, ask questions it will be my pleasure to help. Good luck, Tatiana ”

“Final Project Dear student, we have reached the end of our course. I hope you have enjoyed it and I've been able to help you to create your first kitchen textile line. Before saying goodbye, I would like to go back and cover some of the main points which we've been through our lessons. First start with a simple shape and try to use your imagination and transform it in as many ways as possible. Every shape holds an enormous potential and can grow into a very complex pattern. Depending on what works for you, you can work on a sketchbook with pen and pencil or you can work directly into your c...”

Tatiana Nedialkova studied literature at the University of Sofia, despite her desire to study art. It was when she moved to the UK that her journey as an artist began. She studied Fine Art Contemporary Practices in Devon, and her world as an artist began to unravel. She describes these years as “the best years an artist can wish for.” She went on to study Fine Art at the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London.

In 2016, she started her own company, Softer and Wild, where she combines her designs with textile products. The company has different collections that include kitchen towels, napkins, table runners, oven gloves, cushion covers, aprons, and more.
