About the final project for: Narrative Illustration: Tell a Story without Words

Narrative Illustration: Tell a Story without Words

“We have reached the end of this path, but here a new adventure begins for you. Create your own story, make noise with your illustrations, dare to explore the borders of the image. Throughout the course you have learned everything you need to be able to create your own illustrated narrative, you learned about some alternatives, the materials, in short ... everything, so it's time to start deciding, executing and giving voice to your stories through your creations. Remember that what you do not share limits you as a human being, so I invite you to share your final project in the following way: The perfect pretext Start by looking for a trigger, give yourself the opportunity to find out what you think. Take this opportunity to find the ideal pretext to start illustrating. Find your trigger! It can be anything, but remember that it is best if it is a phrase, ideally you should have fun in the process! I did it through a word association, but you can use the mechanism that works best for you.

What is hidden behind the clouds? How do you want your sequence to be? What is the path you want to prepare for the reader? Define if your sequence will be linear or if it will be cryptic, this decision is completely personal, it will help not only to give voice to your narrative, but also to you as an artist and creator, keep in mind that this is your creative approach and it is valid whatever it is. . In addition, it will be essential that in this part you take on the task of developing the story that is born from your phrase.
The sketch Take a pencil and start making your sketches, this step is the first real construction step, here you begin to see the intention of your project. It is time to make decisions! Do not skip this step, as this will allow you to live the famous and incredible stage of trial and error. At this point you can also decide if you want to use rhetoric in your illustrated narrative.
The treasure Since you have the sketches, the materials and the story, then now choose the color palette with which you will work your narrative. Once selected, it's time to start giving life and voice to your illustration. Before starting to apply the gouache, I recommend placing a little magic tape to take care of the ends and thus avoid any damage.
The treasure chest Prepare your treasure container, this is a craft project, so you can use something like what I used or let your imagination fly and create something completely yours. Remember that the paste should help your narrative flow, each detail adds and gives it personality, so in the end it will also help you make the noise you consider necessary.
Before saying goodbye, I would like to thank you for having traveled this path with me, thank you for making me part of your growth and your creativity. Sharing with you what I have learned throughout my life has been wonderful, it is a way to grow as a person. Please do not forget to share your final project, I will love to see what you had in your hands and that you managed to make a reality. Keep in mind that you can play with the amount of illustrations that will be part of your narrative, however, what I do recommend is that you keep it in the measurement of 15cm x 15cm. Remember that the challenge is always yourself, so do not compare your work with that of others. I will continue to accompany you in everything you do during the course, but be patient and keep in mind that I have more occupations. Finally, I invite you to take a tour of the projects of your colleagues, be objective and if you have any recommendation or tip to share with them, do it! Be generous and careful with your words, remember ... speaking is compromising. I say goodbye for now, but we will see you soon in some parallel creative universe. ”

“Final Project We've reached the end of the course. Thank you for accompanying me on this journey. One thing I recommend is that you assess your ability, rhythm, skills, and experiences. When you tackle the project, don’t base it on what others try to do. The challenge is always to be yourself. Take the form and content of my final project and adapt it to suit your taste. Don’t stick to what I’ve done. Allow yourself creative freedom. Take risks and experiment. I deeply appreciate your attention in this course. It was made with respect and love for the profession, and the clear personal conv...”
