About the final project for: Lettering in Vibrant Watercolor

Lettering in Vibrant Watercolor

“We are reaching the end, but before saying goodbye I would like to thank you for taking this course, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Please, do not forget to share your final project, I would like to see your entire process. I share an example of how I want to see it: The phrase and the mood board To start, look for a phrase that motivates you to achieve something, that inspires you and makes you happy, or if you already have a favorite phrase you can use that one. Create your mood board with inspiration from letters, color palettes and composition.

The structure and the sketch Create a structure, that is, the skeleton of your sentence and start sketching. Trace as many structures you can think of so that you have to choose from. Sketch from miniatures, starting from the structure you have already created. Remember to start creating hierarchies by making the most important words of your phrase more visible or simply the part you want to highlight.
Large sketch Choose the miniature that you like the most and that works the most. And now yes, start sketching big. Remember to look at the letter examples I gave you so you can vary. Use the template I included to create your own letters or take a chance with your own. Also, stylize your sketch, no matter how many times you have to trace it, as this is the time to make corrections. Remember to fill in your letters so that you see them with weight, shape and negative spaces. Balance your composition and don't be afraid of blank spaces!
The color Get to work, start painting and bring to life that phrase that you like so much, motivates you or makes you smile. Remember to enjoy the unexpected textures that watercolor creates when it dries.
Final details Do not forget that in the small details is the difference. Add your own personality to the letters by adding highlights, shadows and details with colored pencils, ink or with a white pen. Take a photo of your work, edit it and post it.
Do not stop at the first mistake because you will learn a lot from them, in addition, there is nothing to fear, since you can always start again, remember that practice takes you on the path of experience, because it does not get easier do things, but you make yourself better. The magic of watercolor is in the unexpected textures that occur when it dries. Don't be afraid to share, you don't know who you can inspire today! Don't forget to share in the forum all the tasks and steps of your final project, I would love to see what you created and how you will use your piece to decorate your space. Your other colleagues and I will be very happy to see it and thus you will receive enriching comments for your process. I will also be ready to answer your questions and comments. If I don't answer you quickly, please have a little patience, because I'm sure I'll be concentrating and having fun making lyrics for some other project. It's great that you took this course and became part of my world of letters. I love sharing my knowledge and with all my heart I hope you have learned and fallen in love with the art of watercolor and lettering together. Thank you and see you next time! ”
