“We have reached the end of the course, I hope you had fun and got your hands a little dirty. I would like to remind you that this course is just an introduction, don't be frustrated if your project doesn't go the way you planned. Even today I happen to plan a draft and the ending turns out totally different. The process is not always organized, most of the time it is chaotic. Sometimes, researching, drafting, and choosing color happen at the same time. So, all that I went through is not a recipe, they are guides to help when you feel very lost. Sometimes the mistake will be a mistake and at least it will serve as a lesson. Sometimes the error will be incorporated and in the end it will become a hit. It's kind of a cliché to say this, but there is no other way, you need to practice a lot and, above all, be kind to yourself. Be careful not to compare yourself to professional artists who have been doing this every day for years and who have had the privilege of studying in good schools. Each has its own time; your story, the place you live in, however dull you find it, is what will bring that unique touch to your work. Here are some tips to reinforce what we've done: • Choose a text that inspires you. • Search to gather useful images and information to increase your repertoire. • Create some thumbnails and choose 1 of them to make a more elaborate sketch. • Get your hands dirty and use stamp, cutouts, ink and pencil to create different textures and elements. • Digitize these sheets and separate the elements from the background using Photoshop. • Organize your texture library, it can be useful to save ready-made shapes for future work. • Make a color study to make it easier when finishing the image • Assemble the final illustration like a jigsaw puzzle, in a very handcrafted process. A great way to get started is by creating ghost projects. I highly encourage you to complete the 3 illustrations in this course, this set of illustrations will form your first work.
