Professional Lamp Design: Transform a Space with Light

“You reached the end of the course, thank you for joining me and for taking an interest in this deep world of enlightenment. I hope that the tour of the lessons has been productive to prepare your final project and that today you understand more than ever the importance of lighting in our lives. Make every corner of your spaces shine! Ideally, your final project is different from the one I did during the course, since your identity and your need are surely different from mine. I share the processes of your final project that I would like to see: The light in your space The most important thing is that you see light as a transformer of space. Be aware of the impact that natural light and artificial light have on human beings. This will help you when making decisions because you will understand how objects such as lamps, which contain and emit light, play a very important role in creating environments. Choose a space in which you are going to work to give it a new life. Once you have chosen the environment you want to transform, answer these questions focused on space: What inspires you? What moves your heart, what do you want to explore? What do you want to evoke? Is there a theme or concept that you want to highlight?

The concept and the mood board Define a concept that you will work with. It is important to have the concept of your project very clear before searching infinitely, since the search for references can be as long and as deep as you want, but the important thing is to have a keyword to start with. Take advantage of the fact that you have everything more grounded to be able to create your mood board.
The sketch Draw and let your imagination fly, explore shapes, colors and textures to find a design idea.
The 3D model and technical drawings After having the sketch ready, it is key that you lean on tools such as 3D models, they are one of the most powerful tools for designers, architects and interior designers. For me, its main function is to finish adjusting design details that we are not able to achieve on paper and see their proportion in space. With the 3D model you can go on to make technical drawings with the measurements, notes of the design detail, the amount you want to make. I personally do it from SketchUp or in a graphic design program called Illustrator, this way it can be much more detailed to send to manufacture the design.
Models, models and prototypes Remember that you can explore the three-dimensional shapes live and direct, making mockups, models and hopefully a good prototype, since all this will make your design the winning combo.
The details of your lamp Choose the tone of light and the intensity of the source or bulb that you are going to use in your lamp to be able to generate the emotions that you dream of in the space.
The lamp in your space Use a photo montage tool to recreate what the lamp will look like in the space you want to transform. You will be able to see its proportion, how it emits light, etc. If you want a more advanced level or if you are an interior designer, you can make a render showing your new design in real space. You can also simply take a photo of your prototype, hopefully on a neutral colored background, a white wall that does not have much texture, the idea is to remove the white or colored background and that the image of the product remains with a transparent background and in PNG format to be able to superimpose it on the photo of your space and thus see in a real way how the space you chose will be transformed with this new design.
I invite you to participate in the forum, to share with the other students, since their opinions can be important for your learning process. Knowing other projects can enrich your project. Sharing our knowledge and learning in community makes us better people. Thank you for being present in my course, I hope we will meet again soon and remember that you can ask me your questions, I just ask you for a little patience when receiving my answer, because as I told you I am the design director of a brand and I must also attend to my responsibilities as a professional in other projects, as soon as I can and have the space I will respond to you with a lot of love. Until next time!”

“Final project We reached the end of the course. Thank you very much for having accompanied me here. I hope that everything learned in the lessons helped you create your final project. Remember that the most important is to see light as a transformer of spaces, know the difference between artificial and natural light, know its benefits and what emotions it generates in us to be able to transform the spaces. Once you are clear about what space you want to transform, it is very important that you start asking yourself how do you feel about it, what do you want to transform, what emotions do yo...”
