Musical Composition for Short Films with Ableton Live
“You’ve reached the end of the course. I hope that you’ve enjoyed it, and learned something new from it. After everything I have taught you, now you are more than ready to do your own final project. It’s your time to record a simple melody in Ableton Live using only a computer keyboard. Don’t be afraid to start something new! Remember, you can’t be waiting for ideas to work, you have to look for them. Look at different video clips or short films that inspire you and that need music. Think about what kind of music should be appropriate for it. When you start working on your project, take this into account: music works in conjunction with images on the screen, and that’s what makes us feel something. Think about what you want people to feel when they see your project. Record your own original melody, you can also add a simple rhythm or harmony to the melody that you are creating. Go step by step as I taught you! So you can be sure you are going in the right direction. Check and see if the melody feels right with the images, before adding other layers to your piece of music. Make all the appropriate adjustments before exporting your project. I'm looking forward to listening, seeing, and connecting with what you create during the course. I hope that you’re happy with your project, and remember that you can always go back and continue to make changes if needed. Thanks so much for taking this course with me. It’s been a joy to teach and to show you my creative process, and I hope it’s been fun to follow along. Don’t forget to contribute to the forum, and feel free to ask me any questions that might arise! See you soon! ”
