Start the course by learning about Juliana’s career and how she started in the field of embroidery. She shares her main influences and explains what you’ll learn in the course.
In the second unit, go through the material you need for the course and create a sampler of different embroidery stitches. Juliana teaches you twelve different types of stitches such as the chain stitch, the Pekinese stitch, the french knot, the single chain stitch, and explains how to use each one.
After experimenting with different stitches and going through the theory of color, start to create your own composition by combining words and drawings. Create a collage, either manually or digitally, and then transform it into lines to embroider.
In the next step, embroider your composition by choosing the most appropriate stitches for each shape and number of threads. Lastly, once you’ve embroidered your stitches, learn how to give a professional finish to your embroidery piece.
