About the final project for: Artist's Notebook: Explore Illustration Techniques

Artist's Notebook: Explore Illustration Techniques

“This course has been a very complete journey through different techniques and diverse topics. I hope you have found it interesting, but, above all, I would like it to be the beginning of a long relationship with drawing, that it grows day by day like a seed that becomes a tree. Let's now review the development of the final project of the course: a notebook that has come to life with the techniques and concepts that I have taught you: Seed and origin We have started with a walk through a forest or a park in search of small elements to draw. We have observed them carefully to be able to translate them into a graphic language that has served as the basis for new drawings in which we have been carried away by the imagination. Later, we have turned to India ink and the brush to realize that our stroke is as unique and personal as our calligraphy.

Garden and forest The next step has been to play with silhouettes and symmetry, creating solid figures with very defined profiles. We have related this controlled and precise work to a garden designed and cared for by man. Afterwards, we have gone into the forest to work with paint and let our most intuitive and imaginative side flow.
Animals and masks In the forest we meet the animals again and we have filled the pages with color by applying two very simple oil transfer techniques, which give us an effect similar to that of engraving techniques. We have also seen how masks can continue to be inspiring today.
Humans and fabulous beings The human figure has also been present on several pages that have given way again to the imagination in a series of fabulous beings, a mixture of animals and men.
construction Finally, we have seen how drawing gives us the possibility of relating elements of worlds as different as plants, animals and the human figure to build images that have poetic meaning or allow ideas to be communicated.
Now is your time. Share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". It would be great if you could show with images examples of the different techniques and topics worked on during the course, and add a brief explanation about what you have done in each case. So I can give you feedback and the other students can learn and be inspired by your work. To show each image, I recommend that you place your notebook open on the page you want to show and photograph it from above. You don't need to photograph while drawing or painting. Final advice We have walked through various topics and techniques. It is just one example of how working in notebooks you can have a large archive of images and ideas, a material that can increase day by day, notebook and notebook. Consistency is important and also the desire to learn and enjoy drawing. Be patient and you will see how you will get good results. We come to the end, but the most important thing is that this course is a beginning. Hopefully you can take some ideas and techniques and develop them; transform them, rethink them, mix them with each other ... In short, make them yours. Drawing has always been a way of reflecting the world around us and a tool to communicate. It has also been a way of imagining and dreaming fables that make this world more habitable and complete. Working in the notebook you will find your own way of representing the world, your gaze, your line, your style and your voice. May this notebook lead you to others. I am sure that in each one you will discover possibilities, doors that will lead to new paths, new landscapes to explore and enjoy exploring. We do not continue to see the forum, I encourage you to participate actively and, in addition to sharing your progress, comment on those of the other students and help them as much as possible; we are a community. See you soon! ”

“Final Project We're at the end of this Domestika course. I hope you enjoyed it and learned a lot with each step and technique we captured in our notebook. Before I go, I want to review some key points from this course. Use your notebook every day, draw frequently, and you’ll start to get better results, but above all, enjoy the act of drawing for the sake of drawing. I showed you several techniques, but you can learn more. Find your own, adapt them to your style and work, and even combine them. You can use these drawings in your notebook to get ideas for other projects and commissions. The ...”
