Analog photography draws us away from the precision of the digital world and brings us closer to the artistic, the imperfect, and the subjective. No one knows this better than Albert Roig, founder of a lab set up by photographers for photographers: Carmencita Film Lab.
In this course, discover everything you need to fall in love with analog photography. Learn the basics for working with light and composition, explore the possibilities offered by various different cameras, films, and developing techniques and create artistic portraits with a professional look.

Albert Roig talks about how he got started with film photography and how a desire to help professionals from around the world with this medium culminated in Carmencita Film Lab. He also shares his biggest influences and sources of inspiration.
Go over some basic concepts such as exposure, how to gauge light, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Take a look at some of the different analog camera formats you can find nowadays and explore their optics, functionality, and their pros and cons. Albert also discusses developing and the different types of film available for color and black and white.
Now it's time to put all of this into practice and start taking photos. Decide what kind of light you like and how to achieve it before deciding on the composition. Albert gives you tips on directing your model before shoot time! Start with full body shots and slowly move closer focusing on mood and playing with the light.
After your photoshoot get your images off the film. Explore the different developing possibilities you have at home as well as with a lab. Once you have your negatives, learn how to digitalize your images. Your teacher gives you tips on selecting the best photos and editing them in Lightroom.
