About the final project for: Digital Lettering in Photoshop: Vivid Colors and Reflections

Digital Lettering in Photoshop: Vivid Colors and Reflections

“We reached the end of the road. I hope you have learned and enjoyed as much as I did throughout the five units of the course. Next, I am going to review the different phases to follow to develop the final project: Sketch After you have decided what you are going to write, start working on your sketch as we saw in Unit 2 of the course. I have chosen a phrase from John Wick, one of my favorite movies, but you can choose the phrase or words you want. Always keep in mind what you want to communicate with your lettering.

Vectorization Scan your sketch to vectorize it using Illustrator. As you learned in Unit 3, polish the lines that have any defects, compensate the weights and leave the image ready to continue editing it in Photoshop.
Digital coloring Before you begin, choose a color palette; I did it based on a scene from the movie. Then, in Photoshop, apply color, shading, lights and effects to your lettering as we saw in Unit 4.
Textures and filters Finally, apply textures and some filters to give your lettering a final touch and help it integrate better with the background.
Now share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your lettering and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. So I can give you feedback. On the other hand, if in addition to the Domestika community, you want to share your creation with everyone, you can upload photos of them to Instagram with the hashtag #EduardoMorganDomestika In addition to sharing your progress, I also want to invite you to actively participate in the forum and interact with your colleagues, surely we can help and inspire each other a lot! I will enter everything that my work allows me to review projects and resolve any doubts that may arise, I am looking forward to seeing everything you have learned about lettering. ”

“Final project To finish, I want you to see a brief summary of what I learned. Before working on the course project we briefly review calligraphic concepts with different materials to later see the differences between calligraphy and lettering. In this way, we begin the sketch of the project which, in my case, is "John Wick", one of my favorite movies. At this point in the sketch it is important to recognize what to convey with your lettering and thus find the best option depending on what you want to communicate. So you don't just choose a name, word or phrase that you like, but something t...”
