About the final project for: The Art of Casting

The Art of Casting

“Dear students, You have reached the end of the course and I’m delighted to have been a part of your filmmaking journey. Your final project is putting all that you have learned into practical use and producing your casting dossier. This depends on what stage of production you are at so if you are prepping a student film, it should be the casting list with everyone attached and ready to shoot, if you are trying to raise money through crowdfunding then you should have a good presentation that you can include on your fundraising site and if you are trying to raise funding then a casting dossier to present to potential producers or grant bodies. Please prepare a casting presentation and upload it to the forum and I will comment on it. Look at the other participants’ ones to see what works best. Take a look at the one Kristen Dania prepared for What We Should Have Said as this is a good example. And of course, then let us know when you actually film your production. I can’t wait to see what actors you choose. The best way to do your final project is to break it down into stages and achievable goals. First, decide on your time frame so that you know how long you have for each stage. Normally this means working back from your proposed shooting date. Take your personal circumstances into account so that you are allowing yourself enough time for each stage. Remember to dream big but that careful planning and pre-production make those dreams become reality. It is a true gift to be able to share stories through the medium of film or television and I look forward to seeing your projects on the screen in hopefully the not too distant future. Stay safe, stay active, and stay creative! ”

So you'll have to be highly organised to make sure the creativity can shine. We've talked about what exactly casting is and also about how the casting process works. I've taught you to break down your script, and to write the casting descriptions. Then I showed you how to do the casting call and told you where to find good candidates. You learned how to run your casting session, both in a studio or online. I shared so...”
