Basic techniques for creating unique and creative pieces of ceramic

In this course Lola Giardino, founder of NonaBruna, will show you the possibilities offered by ceramics and the techniques to work it, so that you can shape your ideas and create with your hands any creative piece that you can think of.

You will learn other ways to use ceramics creatively and while you design and shape your own creations. Lola will teach you a breakfast set, but the possibilities are endless when it comes to working with ceramics, the only limitation when choosing the final piece is your own imagination.

What's included in this course?

In the first place, you will discover why Lola, as a designer, decided to incorporate ceramics into her life and how she takes advantage of all the possibilities that this material offers her. You will also know their influences and what their sources of inspiration are.

You will learn to work with ceramics, what are the different types of clay that you can use to create your own breakfast set (or any other creative piece that you want to materialize) and all the materials and tools you need.

Lola will teach you the 3 basic techniques for the creation of a piece: pinch, churros and plates; and will show you some examples of pieces made with these techniques so you can choose the one you prefer.

You will see Lola create a cup-character with the technique "pinch" and a plate-hat using the technique "plate", incorporating prints. You can choose the technique that you like most to create your pieces. You will see how it is painted with pigmented mud and how to make colored slips to paint the pieces.

Finally, Lola will show you other applications: decorations, prints, fabrics, leaves, textures ... How to make figurines, letters, posters, draw drawings, etc. so that you know thoroughly the possibilities of ceramics and you can unleash your creativity.

What is this course project about?

You will make with your own hands a breakfast set (cup-character and plate-hat), materializing your ideas in ceramics and giving it its own personality.

Who is it for?

This course is aimed at all those who enjoy the craft processes and want to test their creativity. To anyone who wants to let their imagination fly and materialize their ideas in tangible pieces, that does not mind leaving aside the computer and getting their hands dirty.

Requirements

This course will enjoy both those who are the first time they venture to play with clay and those who have already worked with ceramics on other occasions.

Lola will teach you and guide you step by step throughout the process, from the conception of the idea to the final piece, so it is not necessary to have any prior knowledge.

As for materials, you will need ceramic paste, stems or modeling sticks, a rolling pin, sponge, brush, cloth and an apron.

Designer, photographer, ceramist and art director online

Lola Giardino's relationship with ceramics began in 2011, as a way to get away from the computer and find in other formats an opportunity to shape her creations. After trying different options, he fell in love with materials and technique, so much so that, one year later, he created his own brand: NonaBruna, thanks to which, he enjoys imperfection by making unique pieces with his own hands.

His pieces are sold online on their website and have been published in international publications such as Vogue, Time Out, Freunde von Freunden and Kinfolk, among others.

In addition to the space it serves to create, NonaBruna is also the place from which Lola invites everyone to 'Play with Mud', a workshop to explore creativity and materialize it.

Lola defines herself as multifaceted because she finds it impossible to keep only one label: she is a designer, ceramist, photographer, art director, web designer, cook, coach and entrepreneur. And as part of this concept, she is also the founder of Creative Lab .
