About the final project for: Tapestry Weaving in a High-Warp Loom

Tapestry Weaving in a High-Warp Loom

“We reached the end and I wanted to thank you for choosing this course. I hope you have enjoyed the references that I have shared with you and that they serve as inspiration. Next, I will show you the steps that I have followed to make the final project to help you do yours: Tapestry design After having reviewed the basic concepts and the different techniques and tools in the first part of the course, we entered the design of the tapestry. To build it I used the geometric synthesis method, playing with the combination of various shapes.

Choice of color I defined the colors of the tapestry, reviewing some basic notions of color theory. It is important that you define your color palette before getting to work, and you can also take into account the texture and thickness of the fibers that you are going to use.
The base of the tapestry I started the tapestry weave by adding some fringes and then the base of the central motif using the plain weave.
Central motif After weaving the base, I continued with the diagonal lines to form the rhombuses that make up the vase.
Last details and final result I finished the design by weaving the circular figures with volume for the flowers. Also, as we saw in Unit 4, I finished off all the threads that were loose and added a support to the final piece.
This is how I have woven my tapestry. I hope it serves as a reference, but you can make yours with your own style, Remember that you can apply this technique to create more functional objects. The possibilities are endless, you just have to let your imagination run wild. Be creative or creative! As you have seen, this is a slow technique that requires patience, and mastery is achieved with practice and experience. Take the time that is necessary to practice and do not be discouraged if you have difficulties or make mistakes, everything has a solution. It would also be great if you experimented with different types of fabric, so you will see which textures attract you the most, which fibers are your favorites and which colors you like the most for your designs. Remember to share in the forum both the final result of your project and the steps that have led you to it. Also all the doubts that arise; I would be glad to help you. See you soon! ”
