“Influences I used to think that basing my work on others' limited my creativity, but I couldn't have been more wrong. In this lesson, I'd like to show you my influences and how my visual style came to be. Cartoons were always very important for me. "The Powerpuff Girls" was one of my first influences. A few years later, anime changed my perspective on the cartoons I was used to. "Pokemon" and "Cardcaptor Sakura" were turning points. The stories were more complex and the drawing more detailed than what I was used to. One of the first mangas or animes that grabbed me was "Shaman King" by Hiro...”

Adriana De la Torre, also known as Akimaro, is a designer by profession and an illustrator by trade. Combining these two arts, she has devoted herself to helping clients find their voice and telling stories through images. Since she was 16, Adriana has been publishing comics independently and is the co-author of the webcomic Parellet, published since 2012 and with two volumes in print.
Recently, she has worked with publishers like Penguin Random House to create illustrations for a teenage demographic. She loves to experiment and combines her experience in graphic design with her interest in modern Japanese culture.
