About the final project for: Introduction to Writing Fiction

Introduction to Writing Fiction

“You have reached the end of the course. Thank you very much for joining me, I hope that the narrative bases that you learned are the beginning of many literary projects. Understanding elements such as narrator, characters, plot, and time / space will be critical to both your final project and the stories to come. Before saying goodbye, I would like to recapitulate a little the steps that will take you to build your story. You will remember that I shared some of my strategies to develop a plot and how to prepare your raw material before writing. I am interested in you carrying out your own research process because it is a way of discovering the text you are writing. Gathering information and studying your raw material are essential steps BEFORE you sit down to write. Once you are writing, do not stop, listen carefully to your characters and you will see that you can turn your story into the first piece of a larger project. Perhaps you decided to turn something that happened to you into fiction, and that's fine, little by little you will learn to think based on the character or topic in which you are interested and perform prewriting, writing and rewriting based on it.

Always keep in mind that writing requires four things: observe, listen, read and of course, write. Observe your surroundings, pay attention to details, listen to sounds, conversations on the air or very personal, read all kinds of fiction and non-fiction texts, but read with the eyes of those who want to learn discursive strategies from those authors (also , of course, to enjoy their texts). Do not forget that writing is learned by reading and writing. Be patient with you, consider that for a text to be ready you need hours of work, hours of rest and readers to accompany you in the process. Finally, the writing can be collective, so I recommend that you share your progress and final story in the forum so that your colleagues and I can give you feedback, the texts do not have to be written alone. See you on the forum! ”

“Final project Dear students, we have reached the end of this course which focused on the construction of a story. We start from the bases of the narrative and we learned about elements like narrator, characters, plot, time-space, and how they interact depending on the purpose of our writing project. As you saw, play with the paper dolls, with the collage and the photographs, are just a few of the many ways that you can use to spark your creativity and get into the prewriting process. We observe strategies to develop a plot and, most importantly, prepare and generate raw material before writ...”
