About the final project for: Floral Headpiece: Using Flowers to Create Accessories

Flower Crown Design and Creation

“We have reached the end of the course. I hope you have enjoyed and learned a lot; now it's up to you to make your own crown. We are going to review the phases of the creation process of my final project. Mood board and choice of materials I have created the mood board to define the design I have decided to make. Remember that it will serve as a guide, but there is always room for improvisation, and creativity emerges in those moments. Then I have chosen the flowers and materials to work on the crown. I remind you that we will use fresh flowers if we want scent, specific colors and if the crown should only be used on one occasion. In the event that you need the crown for longer, you will have to use preserved and dried flowers, as long as the dry ones do not break too much. Direct light and heat are enemies of flowers. Regarding the materials, the most important thing is that you choose the floral tape according to the color palette of your project, since it will always show a little, and we do not want a bad choice to ruin your design.

Crown base Next, I got down to work preparing the base for the floral crown. It is important that you buy long wires and nail them so that you do not have length problems. Remember to take into account both the volume and the weight that your crown will take to choose a base wire strong enough to hold, but flexible enough to be able to work it. The choice of one type of base or another will depend on the design you have chosen to make, which mainly responds to the type of hairstyle that the client will wear. This is the time to practice with the tape to line the base wire. Remember to apply it by stretching it slightly so that the "glue" is activated and turning at an approximate angle of 45º to advance.
Preparation of the bouquets The next step has been to prepare the bouquets of flowers. It is an essential step to have everything ready to finish mounting the crown. In this process, you will make design decisions based on the flower combinations you make. Remember that there is no written rule and it is you who decides. I advise not to use many varieties of flower together in the same bouquet because otherwise it will not look good once finished.
Union of the bouquets to the base and final touches When finishing the corsages, I have applied them with the tape to the base of the crown that I have built before. It is a slow and painstaking process, but also very rewarding as you go along. If you choose to make a crown with height, I recommend that you start at the highest point and work your way up little by little. In any case, starting from the center to the sides will be the most practical. Make use of a mirror to see how it looks and to be able to make adjustments during the process. Once the crown was finished, I made the final touches and the closure. Remember that the type of closure is already defined from the mood board in which you will have had to make design decisions based on the client's hairstyle. And the most important thing to finish is to keep your crown well. If it is fresh, you will need to hydrate it and put it in the fridge, and if it is made of dry or preserved materials, you must store it carefully.
It is important that you follow the steps that we have learned because each decision will influence the final result. Keep in mind that to be successful with the crown, the most important thing is to do the whole process well and, above all, to practice a lot to be able to be fluent with the technique. I invite you to let your imagination fly and try the maximum possible combinations and techniques and develop your own design. When you have finished your crown, remember to click on "Create your project" and share with everyone both the final result of your work and the phases of the process that have led you to it. I will be delighted to answer any questions or concerns in the forum and above all to see your final project. Thank you very much for joining me in this course! ”

“Final project In this video we'll review everything we have learned. The first thing we did to make our crown was to analyze the client's order through some basic questions, which allowed us to make decisions. All this resulted in a mood board, where we defined the design we were going to do in terms of color and shape. Once the mood board was finished, we got to work and we started on the base of the crown. We decided to leave a margin to be able to choose which closure we wanted. After choosing the flowers we were going to use, we started to prepare it. To do this, I showed you how to mak...”
