Through the practice of the tapestry technique, you can weave custom-made accessories, among them your own bag. With the help of Ángela Cayero, the artist behind Poetryarn, learn the keys to design and make your own patterns step by step and apply them to a range of products.
In her first course, Introduction to Tapestry, she introduces you to the technique and, in this one, she teaches you the keys to making circular tapestry, both the stitches and how to design your own circular patterns. Using Ángela's process and tips, create a multifunctional piece, a circular bag that you can wear as a shoulder bag or as a waist bag.

Meet Ángela, the artist behind Poetryarn, as she shows you her influences and what she is drawn to creatively. In addition, she presents you with the best materials for creating a circular bag, which will be your final project.
Start learning the key aspects to weave any circular pattern with tapestry and create a magic circle by seeing the main stitches of the technique. Discover what loops are and how to work with them, how to enlarge pieces, how to weave by closing each turn, and how to work with several threads at once.
Learn how to interpret the circular diagrams, how to design patterns using colored cells, and how they are formed based on repetition wedges. Ángela shows you the best combinations to create a good piece and tells you which stitch is best depending on the polygon you use in your design.
Next, it’s time to go from paper to fabric. Begin to weave your circular pattern step by step, putting into practice everything you have learned. Join both sides of your bag by sewing through the loops, sew on the zipper, mount the adjustable handle, and add the decorations.
By the end of this course, you will have created a contemporary and multifunctional piece to suit you and will be able to design any circular piece you want.

Requirements and materials
You will not need any previous knowledge of tapestry, but crochet basics will come in handy. You will definitely need high doses of motivation to create an original piece that represents your style.
As for materials, you’ll need a pencil, an eraser, and colored pencils. For the final project, two woolen balls of 2.5 mm thick thread, a 1.75 mm needle, a two-sided zipper (one that separates into two parts), around 1 meter of cotton for the backpack, two carabiners, a backpack zipper (of the same width of the strip), a sewing needle, and thread.
