Get to know Connie, her career, and the people who have impacted her work the most. Then, she introduces you to the course’s content before embarking on your illustration journey.

First, learn how to gather research and inspiration, particularly the pose references via fashion editorials and makeup and beauty references via makeup and beauty images. This will help determine the aesthetics for your illustration. Then, look at a particular pose reference and learn some basics about figures in motion and how to draw the face.

Draw your final figure and, once you’re happy, start painting. Connie goes through some techniques and approaches that she uses, including painting from light to dark, adding details, using colored pencils, shadow grading, and more.

Next up, paint the figure and face. Draw your figure while outlining the garment to use the collage technique. Use various papers and materials for your collage and then add the clothing consulting your style reference.

Finalize your collage by cutting out the figure and applying some final corrections. Achieve the desired look, feel, and narrative by placing your finished collage in different places and photographing it.
